Plant Islands Made of Brick-colored Clay

Urban wilderness at home: create your own plant island from brick-colored clay and discover the material as a habitat for mosses, lichens, and wild plants. This one-day workshop focuses on brick-colored clay as an architectural material. Inspired by the exhibition "Backstein Reloaded," we explore how the clay can be shaped, built up, and structured to later provide microhabitats for plants, mosses, and lichens. We will design a small, individual plant island where surfaces and structures play a central role. The plant island can be brought to life after firing with wild-growing plants from the city, forest, or garden. No prior knowledge is required. Led by Nora Wagner, designer and researcher. This workshop is part of the "Backstein Reloaded" exhibition.
