Nothing is left to eat in the house and the Christmas tree is still missing. The little cat is afraid that they won't be able to celebrate the beloved holiday at all this year. When they want to cut down a tree in the forest the next day with better weather, Pettersson injures his foot so badly that they have to return without a tree and postpone buying the missing treats. Pettersson resists accepting the help offered by his neighbors until the little cat finally loses his temper.
