Description
Peter and the Wolf (op. 67) is a world-famous musical fairy tale by Sergei Prokofiev, premiered in 1936. It was designed to introduce children to the instruments of a symphony orchestra. As long-standing partners, the Musikschule Südliche Bergstraße, the Wiesloch City Library, and the Palatin Culture Center are excited to present this special musical experience with the symphony orchestra of the music school under the direction of Nadine Bösing to many children and their families. The story is about the brave boy Peter (Strings), who lives with his grandfather (Bassoon) on the edge of a forest. Despite his grandfather's warnings, Peter goes out to a meadow. There, his friend, a small bird (Flute), and a quacking duck (Oboe) are playing, while a cat (Clarinet) goes hunting. When a hungry wolf (Forest Horns) appears from the woods, he swallows the duck alive. Unfazed, Peter catches the wolf with the help of the bird and a rope before the hunters (Timpani) arrive. The story ends with a triumphant procession: Peter, the hunters, the grandfather, and the captured animals lead the wolf to the zoo. Duration: approx. 40 minutes. Recommended for children aged 4 and up. A cooperation project of the Musikschule Südliche Bergstraße, the Wiesloch City Library, and the Palatin Culture Center. Additional information: Entrance to the hall: 15:30.
