Concert of Pavel Steidl in Hlučín. On Sunday, October 4th at 5 PM, a unique concert by the world guitar virtuoso Pavel Steidl will take place at the Red Church in Hlučín. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, where he was taught by Milan Zelenka and Arnošt Sádlík, among others. He continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he was mentored by the renowned guitar virtuoso Štěpán Rak. In addition to classical studies, Pavel Steidl gained experience by attending master classes led by David Russell and Abel Carlevaro. He also gained valuable experience by participating in numerous competitions and music festivals. In 1982, he became the winner of the Radio France de Paris competition. This success definitively opened the door for him to build an international career. He has performed in more than thirty countries around the world (Canada, Cuba, Spain, Poland, Austria, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and many others). He has recorded many pieces from the world repertoire and works by Czech composers from both the past and the 20th century. Pavel Steidl also composes and often enriches his concert repertoire with his own works. The Italian magazine Guitart ranked his name among the eight most important guitarists in the world in 2003, and two years later he received the Classical Guitar Award 2005. In 1987, he emigrated to the Netherlands, where he developed his unique style that combines authentic interpretations of 19th-century guitar literature on period instruments with openness to contemporary music and world music. In his playing, he employs the maximum range of color possibilities of the guitar, engages in his own compositions, and often enriches concerts with his own pieces. He has collaborated with numerous personalities (Carlo Domeniconi, Edin Karamazov) and is a member of the European Guitar Quartet. He has recorded a number of albums of both Czech and world repertoire, including 20th-century music. He has taught at the Prague HAMU and currently teaches at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He is also a regular mentor of the MenART scholarship program aimed at children and students talented in the arts and their teachers.
