The band deliberately forgoes control through tight arrangements. Accordingly, the music of Patrick Sommer presents itself as fresh, adventurous, and intense. For his quintet, Patrick Sommer has assembled a formation with strong personalities and a lot of team spirit. With drummer Pius Baschnagel, he forms a rhythm duo that trusts each other blindly and has been shaping various musical contexts with interaction and risk-taking for two decades. Baritone saxophonist Charlotte Lang and trumpeter Bastien Rieser are two important and confident voices of the young generation, and Christoph Grab has been a defining tenor saxophonist in the Swiss jazz scene for three decades.
