Description
In autumn, as every year, the Museum hosts a gathering dedicated to literature, art, and culture in the universe of Hermann Hesse. This year, we are pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Karl-Josef Kuschel, a specialist in literature and theology in Tübingen, and president of the International Hermann Hesse Society. He invites us to discover a selection of poems by three prominent female voices of 20th-century German-speaking literature: Else Lasker-Schüler (1869–1945), Hilde Domin (1909–2006), and Marie Luise Kaschnitz (1901–1974). Three poets, three unique journeys, three writings that testify to exile, loss, and the quest for a language capable of expressing identity and memory.
Through their works, different ways of responding to the historical upheavals and personal fractures of their time are depicted through poetry. Their texts strongly question the links between writing, cultural belonging, and ethical responsibility, while also giving voice to deeply personal perspectives. This reflection also echoes the exhibition dedicated to Isa Hesse-Rabinovitch and opens a broader perspective on the role and place of women — especially Jewish women — in the cultural and literary life of the 20th century. The meeting will be followed by a friendly aperitif, allowing for further exchanges in a warm setting. Conference in German. Free entry – Contribution according to the “Pay what you want” principle.
