Description

A ballad about love, guilt, hope, and redemption, which is one of the most impressive works of Czech music, will resonate in the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle. The monumental cantata titled The Wedding Shirt was composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1884. He drew from the literary source of the same name, a ballad by Erben from the collection Kytice. The gripping story of a girl who, in her longing for her beloved, finds herself on the border between the world of the living and the dead, is told by Dvořák through music full of dramatic tension, tenderness, and deep faith.
