Description

With Orphée aux enfers, Offenbach joyfully blows up the famous myth of Orpheus and Eurydice to create an irresistible satire, as cheeky today as it was at its creation. Here, the spouses hate each other, the gods are bored and rebel, Jupiter turns into a fly, and Eurydice only dreams of one thing: being free! Driven by sparkling music and the famous infernal gallop, the work combines humor, vocal virtuosity, and a keen sense of theater. This new production brings together about thirty young singers and instrumentalists from the Haute école de musique, accompanied by a professional artistic and pedagogical team. Presented in the exceptional setting of the théâtre de L’Heure bleue, whose stage, orchestra pit, and acoustics offer an ideal setting for opera, this project extends the collaboration between the HEM and the Société de Musique in support of emerging artists.
