Description

"Orgelsounds" shines a new light on the organ. The festival brings together world-class organists with the local scene, opens church spaces to a broad audience, and bridges tradition and innovation. Spanning classical music, jazz crossover, and new concert formats, the program is sensuous, surprising, and accessible to everyone.

The diverse program ranges from the improvisational duel “Orgel Battle” to the meditative sounds of the “Orgel Morning Booster,” as well as concerts, workshops, and guided tours of the organ offering insights into its technology, sound, and hidden spaces.

Visitors can enjoy classical organ concerts, jazz at the “Hammond Jazz Café,” a lunchtime concert with Bern Minster organist Christian Barthen, and a workshop on registration and timbres. Families will also find plenty to enjoy: At “Orgel Kids,” participants can build and try out a small organ together.

Other highlights include a classic silent film with live organ improvisation, a crossover performance by Sole Blu blending neo-Alpine folklore, jazz, and classical music, and a musical organ aperitif featuring film soundtracks. The festival concludes with “Orgel Dance”—a groovy finale featuring the organ and a band.
