Public Tour of the Cham Small Hydropower Plant

Description

The Untermühle small hydropower plant on the lower Lorze was put into operation in 1903 and generated electricity for the paper mill in Cham for a long time. In 2002, the plant was acquired by Wasserwerke Zug (WWZ) and was extensively renovated in 2010. This nearly doubled the electricity production. Twelve cubic meters of water per second flow through the new Kaplan tube turbine, which has a maximum output of 570 kilowatts. During the tour, you will experience both the modern facility and parts of the historic plant.
