Description
After the death of his wife Dorli, who had accompanied him and his work for over six decades, Gerhard Meier found a way out of loneliness through writing. In his last work "Whether the Pomegranate Trees Bloom," the award-winning Swiss author bids farewell to his deceased partner: "And I wondered if one lives in the end to be able to remember." The reading from this tender memoir, which deals with love, transience, and grief, leads through an evening of songs on these themes, with pieces from three centuries: by Bach, Brahms, Cornelius, Dvořák, Haydn, Poulenc, Schoeck, and Wolf. Gerhard Meier loved music and also the art of song. It is to be assumed that he would have enjoyed this evening. Participants and additional information: Narrator Mona Petri, Piano Eriko Kagawa, Bass Baritone Niklaus Kost, Production Zimmer-Theater Ariane, Winterthur
