Orpheus mourns the death of his beloved Eurydice and decides to rescue her from the underworld. Although he overcomes demons with his singing, the gods impose one condition. Orpheus and Eurydice at Divadla nacucky! is an original, performative adaptation of the classic myth that deviates from traditional operatic form: it creates an intimate stage work between musical theater, performance, and experimental staging. The story becomes a reflection on themes of death and the concept of hell not as a mythological place, but as a personal, human experience of pain, loss, guilt, or separation. Jan Frič Theater director and educator, active in drama and experimental theater, graduated from DAMU in Prague, where he currently participates in teaching. He has directed over 70 productions on various stages, including the National Theater, Divadlo Na zábradlí, and HaDivadlo. He is known for his distinctive stylization, emphasis on atmosphere, music, and visual metaphors. He has received the Theater Critics' Award multiple times for his productions. He is one of the prominent creators of the contemporary Czech directing scene. You can attend selected parent-friendly performances with children. While adults watch the performance (from 5:30 PM), children will have supervised care with a program in a safe environment of the nacucky! rehearsal room during its duration. You only buy a ticket for yourself; we take care of the children for free. - capacity: max. 10 children (ages 2–10) - prior reservation required - children can be brought from 5:00 PM, pick-up no later than 30 minutes after the performance ends - the program is provided by the Edu nacucky! team. The program is intended for children who can manage being without parents for 1–2 hours. Children may bring snacks, drinks, and slippers. It is also possible to come with another caregiver who can facilitate adaptation.
