Description

Described by the press for their mutual respect, love of detail, and a playing style that is "wonderfully warm, fresh, and yet so mature," the Trio Archai is among the most promising ensembles of their generation. Founded in Basel by Mar Valor, Ayla Sahin, and Finn Mannion, they quickly distinguished themselves by winning first prize and the Beethoven Prize at the Schoenfeld International String Competition in Harbin, as well as the first prize at the Royal Over-Seas League Competition in London. The name Archai, derived from ancient Greek meaning "origin," reflects the trio's shared roots and artistic values. Invited to perform at Wigmore Hall, St George’s Bristol, Schaffhausen Klassik, and the Swiss Chamber Music Festival, the trio will undertake a residency at Snape Maltings as Britten Pears Young Artists. Around Mozart, Fauré, and Schumann, this program explores a broad expressive landscape: clarity and dramatic breath, poetry and melancholy, romantic warmth, and internal tension.
