Like semi-nomads, we migrate from Varen to Siders, where the "Maison du remuage" celebrates its 300th anniversary. This form of seasonal shuttle – semi-nomadism – has shaped the rhythm of entire families' lives: in spring and summer, people descended to the vineyards, in winter, they returned to the alpine village. The municipalities of Val d’Annivers are closely linked to the town of Siders. Each village had its district in Siders. What is special about semi-nomadism is that each family had multiple homes, and the entire village moved on the same day with the pastor, the teacher, children, and luggage twice: during Lent and after the descent from the alpine pastures to the Saint-Catherine church. For generations, families from Albinen owned vineyards in the lower areas, favored by Varen's climate. As the daily walk over several hundred meters of elevation was arduous, winemakers used simple night houses directly in the vineyards.
