Description
A long-term project of the National Heritage Institute, Following the Footsteps of Noble Families, will this year focus on Nobility on the Road. It will recall the period of the 'long 19th century,' when travel was fundamentally transformed by the development of railways, steam navigation, and later automobile transport. Aristocrats gradually became modern tourists, and their interest in distant lands was reflected not only in their lifestyle but also in the design of castle and chateau interiors. At Sychrov Castle, visitors will see, among other things, previously unpublished photographs from a trip around the world taken by the last Rohan owner of the castle and his wife in the 1930s. The exhibition is accessible only as part of the guided tour of Prince Kamil's Castle.
