Description
Suddenly shrunk to thumb size, Nils Holgersson finds himself on the back of the runaway domestic goose Martin – and is on the way to Lapland with a flock of wild geese. The animals greet him with suspicion, after all, he is a human, and who knows what they are up to again! Nils must prove himself: against the dangers on the journey, such as the cunning fox Smirre, who is chasing the group. But also against the image the animals (rightly) have of him. High in the clouds, through rain and wind, over fields, forests and cities – the group led by the strict lead goose Akka flies ever onward, and Nils grows beyond himself, and perhaps back to his old size? The Swedish bestselling author SELMA LAGERLÖF (1858–1940) was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909. Her children's book "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" tells an adventure story about new friendships and perspectives, about the relationship between humans and nature, and about the courage to change.
