Description

Dietmar Bär: Reading
Stefan Weinzierl: Music What if every evening was Christmas? Aunt Milla is not deterred by the horrors of World War II from finally celebrating Christmas again without worries in 1945. When her beloved Christmas tree is to be taken down and removed at the beginning of the new year, she suddenly suffers a nervous breakdown. Medical professionals are consulted without success until Uncle Franz finally finds the solution: he prescribes his wife a "Christmas tree therapy." From then on, Christmas Eve is celebrated every evening – winter and summer, with all the trimmings and with the whole family circle. But after some time of nibbling on speculoos and singing Christmas carols, the festive company becomes bored. Signs of decay manifest in various forms. Over time, the guests are gradually replaced by actors for the evening celebrations. An unemployed stage manager finally brings the evening event to the stage for months without complaint. Eventually, the children are replaced by wax dolls. In "Not Just During Christmas Time" (1952), Heinrich Böll satirizes German post-war mentality and unshakeable Christmas routines. Wrapped in a humorous story, he sharply criticizes the inadequate processing in the early post-war years.
Actor Dietmar Bär provides the lively narrator, while the classical drummer and sound artist Stefan Weinzierl lets the sounds of his extraordinary instrumentarium play out untypically Christmas melodies. Dietmar Bär
Dietmar Bär, born in Dortmund in 1961, is a theater, film, and television actor. He completed his training from 1982 to 1985 at the Westphalian School of Acting in Bochum. He became well known mainly through his role as Cologne Tatort commissioner "Freddy Schenk," for which he received the German Television Award in 2000 and in which he has investigated in more than 90 cases to date. In 2012, he received the Golden Camera as Best Actor for "Kehrtwende" and in 2017 the Bernhard-Minetti-Preis during his engagement at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. Stefan Weinzierl
Stefan Weinzierl's music defies categorization – just like his instrumentarium. With the unique sound spectrum of his multifaceted percussion instruments, the classical drummer (master's degree at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre) develops sound worlds for energetic stage productions and often draws a bridge to literature or acting.
In his productions, he works with, among others, Claudia Michelsen, Devid Striesow, Dietmar Bär, Walter Sittler, ChrisTine Urspruch, Ulrike Folkerts, Andreas Pietschmann, and Mark Waschke, and has been invited by the International May Festival Wiesbaden, the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Elbphilharmonie concerts, the San Francisco Symphony, the German Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, and numerous other theaters and festivals in the German-speaking world.
In his Hamburg recording studio, he regularly develops and produces music for stage works, audiobooks, and documentaries.
