What began in 1988 as a small New Year's Eve celebration on Zurich's Gemüsebrücke is now a permanent fixture in Zurich's calendar of events. The festival area stretches around Zurich's lake basin; from Limmatquai to Bellevue to Utoquai as well as across Quaibrücke to General Guisan-Quai.

The highlight of the New Year's Eve magic is the impressive fireworks display of the Swiss Casino Zurich. From 0.20 a.m. to 0.35 a.m., the brilliant display lights up the sky above Zurich's lake basin. The spectacle is fired from three ships and bathes the sky in a spectacular sea of lights.

Over 150,000 festive visitors from Switzerland and abroad attend the big New Year's Eve party in Zurich every year and celebrate the turn of the year together. Exciting food stalls, bars and music create a festive atmosphere around the lake basin. The New Year's Eve Magic is an open public party, no admission is required. Those who want to celebrate exclusively, with an unobstructed view of the fireworks and in the heated party tent, get a ticket for the Magic Lake Zone or the guest tent.
