Five actors tell the incredible story of Karl Ludwig Schulmeister, son of a pastor from Freistett, who became Napoleon's spy. As "Monsieur Charles," he traveled through Europe, fought in Vienna against the Austrians, in Rostock against Prussia, became police chief in Königsberg – a master of disguise, charming, brave, and full of tricks.
From smuggler to secret agent, from rise to fall: in the end, he ended up impoverished in a tobacco shop in Strasbourg.
With disguises, music, wit, and pace, the ensemble brings Schulmeister's life to the stage – between fact and fiction, history and spectacle.
