Description
The Jazz Choir Freiburg, founded in 1990 by Bertrand Gröger and now led by Julian Knörzer, is one of the most renowned European vocal ensembles. With innovative programs, original arrangements, and international concert tours – especially to Japan and Korea – the highly acclaimed choir has established an outstanding reputation. Whether with band or a cappella: The Jazz Choir stands for musical unique pieces between jazz and world music and regularly collaborates with artists like Bobby McFerrin, the New York Voices, Torun Eriksen, or The Swingles. "Sacred" explores new paths in sacred music. The choir sings about faith, doubt, and spiritual search – inspired, among others, by projects with Bobby McFerrin, Ellington's Sacred Concert, and Bernstein's Mass. The arrangements are purely a cappella, carried solely by voices and vocal percussion. The program ranges from the lively Garden of Eden through monastic struggles to heavenly soundscapes. The Jazz Choir Freiburg sings about this, newly composed for them and the audience: the Song of Songs of love.
