Musical Advent Calendar

Description

From December 1 to 23, a half-hour concert will take place every day at 12:30 PM at the municipal church of Solothurn. Professional musicians from Solothurn, amateurs, associations, and conservatory students will perform to get the audience into the Christmas spirit through 23 varied concerts. As is customary with an Advent calendar, the identity of the artists and the schedule of their performances will remain a surprise. Those with rumbling stomachs during the lunch break will not be left out: from Monday to Friday, lunch will be offered by the 'Gassenküche' starting at noon. Half of the proceeds from the Advent concerts will go to the performing musicians. The other half will support a new project by the 'Perspektive Region Solothurn-Grenchen' association: the creation of a protected reception area for people suffering from addiction. Through this collection, we contribute to making this space welcoming and dignified, with benches, tables, shaded corners, and plants. The list of musicians and groups performing is very diverse: there are choirs, both small and large, jazz, folk music, alphorn, traditional Irish music, a youth orchestra, clarinet and harp, and much more. Here are the 23 musical surprises at noon, listed alphabetically. But beware: the identity of the artists and the schedule of their performances remain secret.
