Musica veneziana – from the Seicento to the Baroque

Description

"Timeless Baroque" is a phrase often used to describe Magdalena Kožená's performances. Her ability to give old or traditional pieces a timeless and modern expression and to touch the audience is something very special. Magdalena Kožená, Andrea Marcon, and La Cetra share a long-standing musical friendship, which was even honored with a Grammy nomination in 2017 for the album "Monteverdi." In "Musica veneziana," they jointly revive the splendor that emanated from the lagoon city at the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque. The link is motets and instrumental works by Monteverdi, Tarquinio Merula, Biagio Marini, and Dario Castello, which radiate a timelessly expressive modernity with their intensity. In addition, arias by Vivaldi and Händel are just waiting to be brought to new life by Andrea Marcon, Magdalena Kožená, and La Cetra, and the musical magic of Venice becomes vividly tangible in soundscapes full of contrasting emotions and Mediterranean sensuality!
