A comedy about what happens when filmmakers from America arrive in the most remote corner of Ireland. The play is set in a small, isolated town in the 1930s. The pervasive economic, spiritual, and moral poverty of this period in Ireland inspired McDonagh to write the story of an orphan – the crippled Billy, who, despite the mockery of those around him, decides to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor in Hollywood.
