Program: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791): Sonata for Hammerklavier and Violin in G major KV, 379 Concert for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in D major, KV 211 Rondo for Violin and Orchestra in C major, KV 373 Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV 550 Joseph Martin Kraus (1756 – 1792): Overture to the theatrical music «Olympie» (tragedy by Johan Henrik Kellgren after Voltaire) VB 133 They met in the early 2000s and – because both of them have widely developed aesthetic antennas – they found each other so inspiring that they repeatedly sought joint playing and the almost perfect complement. Lyrical, silvery, clear and bright the Stradivari, transparent and with complex depth the Hammerklavier. This is one facet of this program: the Mozart sonata. And then Isabelle Faust and Kristian Bezuidenhout also show their other facets as soloist and conductor. And the Kammerorchester Basel invites you to a sound bath. It is a lively celebration of pure musical joy. Even with a Mozart counterpoint, the only slightly younger Joseph Martin Kraus, who made it all the way to the top: to the Swedish royal court.
