Description
Current special exhibition "mode macht geld. The global fashion industry, my wardrobe and me" encourages reflection on the past, present, and future of our clothing consumption. Who pays the real price for fast fashion and how do we find new ways for sustainable handling of clothes?
Our fashion consumption is increasing. Fast fashion dominates both online and offline. How is the ever faster and cheaper production possible? Who wins, who loses? And what is in my wardrobe? The exhibition moves along the value chain from cotton cultivation through garment making and marketing to disposal or recycling. Historical windows reflect the present of the textile industry since the 19th century.
The exhibition presents the current facts about the fast fashion industry and can be visited independently on Sundays. The content was created in collaboration with the research NGO Public Eye (formerly: Erklärung von Bern) and gives visitors a deeper insight into the current impacts of our clothing consumption. A working group created specifically for the exhibition invites visitors to think and discuss together. How is my clothing consumption? Do I behave sustainably? How can I contribute to clothes being made cleanly and fairly? The exhibition raises awareness of the topic and inspires with possible solutions.
