“Röschtigrabe”: Miss Helvetia dares the split In Switzerland, the land of mountains and valleys, there is a very deep chasm: the “Röschtigrabe”. It is the invisible yet omnipresent border between the German- and French-speaking Switzerland. Now, from the Bernese Oberland, comes a woman who spans this chasm with such ease in her split, as if it were the simplest thing in the world to overcome the borders between languages, cultures, and generations: Miss Helvetia! The yodel artist, who grew up as a person and musician in the Diemtigtal, has always been a bridge builder between cultures. She effortlessly combines traditional yodel singing with drums, double bass, hand organ, guitar. And she excites fans all over the world – and throughout Switzerland, of course – with music that cannot be pigeonholed. Her music is contagious with good humor, love for people, and respect for traditions. Miss Helvetia's performances are characterized by her unique yodel, original songs, French chansons, incredible stage presence, energy, and joie de vivre! The ease with which Miss Helvetia overcomes borders is surely related to her having moved from the narrow Diemtigtal to distant Geneva at the age of 20 – and not only learned French there. But also experienced the world in its full size and breadth. She has performed countless times, yodeled, sung, danced; during the day, evening, and night; she founded and led the women’s yodel choir Le Cœur des yodleuses, directed the yodel club Alphüttli, and had many beautiful performances with both. Miss Helvetia loves playing with borders so much that she dedicates a new album and a new tour to them with “Röschtigrabe”. She has many new songs in her luggage, which she composed herself. True earworms, to which she consciously gives even more space than before, alongside yodeling. Of course, the witty stories and anecdotes that belong to every Miss Helvetia show are not missing. And logically: the split is celebrated live not only metaphorically. After two successful years of touring with “Volksmusig on the Rocks”, Miss Helvetia is opening a new chapter. With an album and a program that connects people, generations, and cultures – and thus helps bring Switzerland closer together. Tradition meets modernity.
