Description

During the winter months, IdéeSport opens its sports halls on Sundays and offers free space for exercise and socializing. The events are open to children from birth through kindergarten age and their adult caregivers without prior registration. The focus is on the joy of physical activity and shared experiences. More than 300 events take place annually at around 20 Mini-Move locations across Switzerland, attended by over 37,000 children and adults. Who is it for & what is it for:

discover a wide range of physical activity options on their own terms,
experience joy and positive emotions,
and interact with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. How:
The events are organized and led by locally based peers. The approximately 2,500 youth coaches at IdéeSport are supported and guided by young adults—the project leaders. The events are participatory: participants and coaches actively help shape the program. As part of the project group, key figures from the community and experts from the region ensure that the programs are firmly rooted in the local community. Why:
Children in their early years and their caregivers need a diverse and engaging range of physical activity options on the weekends, which supports a developmentally appropriate joy of physical activity, facilitates relationship-building and social interaction, promotes equal opportunities, and reduces social inequalities.
