Our 'Midnight Sports' projects offer young people, on Saturday evenings, a free space tailored to their needs to play sports, have fun, and reconnect with friends. As for 'Idée-Sport', this initiative opens sports halls on Saturday evenings during the school year and provides a free space dedicated to physical activity and social encounters. Young people can participate in these activities without prior registration. The focus is on the joy of moving and experiencing together, without performance pressure. Each year, more than 2,200 events are organized in around a hundred 'Midnight Sports' sites across Switzerland, with over 90,000 young people participating. For whom and for what purpose? Secondary school youth benefit, in their free time, from a space dedicated to physical activity and social interactions, which they actively help shape, thus developing their social and personal skills in an extracurricular setting. How? The events are organized by young people, for young people. The approximately 2,500 young facilitators of Idée-Sport are supported and guided by young adults, the project leaders. The activities are participatory: participants and coaches have a say in their design. Within the project group, key personalities from the municipality and regional experts ensure the local anchoring of the proposed activities. Why? Young people need, on weekends, a free leisure offer that provides an age-appropriate space, allowing them to participate in decisions, offering a variety of physical and social activities, strengthening equal opportunities, and reducing inequalities.
