Description

In a shabby hotel in the middle of nowhere, the fates of a disparate group of guests and staff intersect. Some have come to seek peace and a brief escape from everyday life, while others long for change or even love. Here, a lonely clarinetist meets a young man looking for a romantic adventure, a dissatisfied married couple, an eccentric hotel staff, and an alien sent from the planet Minerva 2 to report on the state of Earth. Each of them is alone, yet all are together. A mosaic of fourteen interconnected stories emerges from small situations, awkward moments, inner monologues, and quiet observations. This experimental film by Miroslav Krobot and Lubomír Smékal loosely follows the namesake production of the Theater Company 23, transferring its unique theatrical poetics and authenticity to the film screen.
