"Matria" is a grotesque clown show without words about motherhood and femininity: raw, absurd, and full of dark humor. Between laughter and silence, it tells of the loneliness of motherhood, the alienation between the former self and the lived maternal role, inexplicable tears, chaos in everyday life, and invisible caregiving work. Furthermore, the piece opens the view on womanhood beyond motherhood, under societal pressure and constant external scrutiny.
