Dear friends, we are pleased to present to you the program of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, which this year is entirely dedicated to the cello.
Every afternoon, the chapel of Gstaad will be filled with the talent of seven young cellists. Under the patronage of the great Clemens Hagen, they will benefit from exclusive masterclasses with his valuable advice. Additionally, they have the privilege to perform “Molt,” a piece specially composed for our festival by Sofia Avramidou, our house composer.
For the opening concert, we are delighted to welcome the renowned cellist Truls Mørk, who will perform the Schumann concerto alongside the Orchestre Les Siècles. The cello will also be honored by the masterful Mischa Maisky and Kian Soltani, as well as the young Jeamin Han, who will be accompanied by the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra conducted by Christoph Koncz. Finally, the brilliant Jing Zhao will present the traditional Bach recital on Sunday morning at the church in Rougemont.
The festival will also give special prominence to other outstanding talents. We welcome violinists Augustin Hadelich with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Charlie Siem, as well as indispensable pianists like the legendary Martha Argerich, Mao Fujita, and Anastasia Voltchok.
On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, the Trio Wanderer and the Quatuor Ébène will pay a moving homage to his genius. The world of emotions will be continued by the expressive baritone Benjamin Appl. Accompanied by Keigo Mukawa, he will take us into Franz Schubert’s “Winterreise,” this melancholic masterpiece of German Romanticism.
The youngest ones can look forward to the enchanting brushstrokes of Grégoire Pont. His live illustrations will transport them into moonlight, to the top of the Eiffel Tower, accompanied by music by Claude Debussy, interpreted by Guillaume Bellom.

General Information

The Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad is dedicating this year to the cello and offers a varied program with masterclasses and concerts. The festival takes place at the Evangelical Reformed Church of Saint Maurice in Saanen, Switzerland, and also commemorates the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death.
