Why do men suffer more than women when they are sick? We explore this and other questions in our play "Man Flu." Man Flu is a prime example of the supposed misunderstanding between men and women. The duo comedy cabaret "Man Flu" is based on the book of the same name by Peter Buchenau. The stage adaptation offers not only very entertaining but also informative scenes as well as witty and sometimes ambiguous dialogues created with a great sense of profound subtleties that amuse the discerning audience as much as they provoke thought. The two main actors complement each other perfectly in the play. Buchenau plays the suffering man flu patient who explains to the audience with deep conviction that poor men endure much stronger pain with man flu than women do during childbirth. No wonder Peter doesn't get much understanding from his stage partner Gloria either. However, she does at least persuade him to visit a doctor's office. So poor Peter ends up with the militarily cold and dominant doctor who prescribes him countless medications. In the end, Peter Buchenau sums up the message behind "Man Flu": Ultimately, "Man Flu" is also about love and recognition. Participants: Man Flu
