Description

On stage, an armada of dresses: evening, wedding or ball gowns; sequined, puffy or too large. They fly, crack, spin or collapse. Some waltz to Leonard Cohen, others rebel to electronic bass rhythms. Five performers inhabit these fabrics, five women who sweat and exult. After the phenomenal success of her solo and duo trilogy, Leïla Ka signs her first group piece here, confirming the genius of a writing acclaimed by the greatest stages. The choreographer explores femininity by revealing – and dressing – fragilities, angers, and multiple identities. Through forty dresses that become moving architectures, she invents a unique language, where the precision of the gesture meets an increasingly striking zest for life. After a hypnotic start, the music erupts, bodies free themselves, and the piece shifts into a fascinating trance. An eventful show that transforms the stage into a battlefield as elegant as it is relentless.
