Description

Malala fights for her right to education and is shot by the Taliban. She survives, continues to fight. In 2014, she becomes the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
An exploratory, questioning approach to this symbolic figure of civil courage and bravery. Malala Yousafzai, daughter of a school principal in Pakistan, wrote a blog for the BBC in which she described everyday life under the Islamist regime and vehemently advocated for her right to education. When the Taliban shot at the then fifteen-year-old on October 9, 2012, Malala became world-famous. Undeterred by death threats, she continued to assert her claims. On her sixteenth birthday, she delivered a speech before the United Nations.
In 2014, she received the Nobel Peace Prize.
British author Nick Wood adopts a highly subjective approach to bring this story to a theater audience: An author sits at a table and reflects on Malala. Questioningly, she approaches the story of an extraordinary person. In doing so, she repeatedly reflects on her own prejudices and assumptions. A puzzle picture, a quasi-documentary research about Malala, whose story tells us one thing: that the courageous actions of an individual can be decisive in how we see the world.
