Makthaverskan (SE) Makthaverskan is a Swedish post-punk band from Gothenburg. Led by singer Maja Milner, their sound combines driving post-punk with influences from dream pop, jangle, gothic rock, and shoegaze – intense, atmospheric, and full of urgency. Stereogum describes the band as "Alvvays, haunted by the spirit of Siouxsie and the Banshees" – a fitting image for their blend of melody and darkness. The band name refers to the female form of the Swedish word "makthavare," meaning "ruler" or "power holder." On stage, Makthaverskan impresses with explosive live shows, shimmering soundscapes, and the unmistakable voice of Maja Milner.
