Where: Club of the City Council of Brno, Mečová 368/5, Dance Hall (3rd floor) About Mahadeva Kirtan Project Mahadeva Kirtan Project is a dream project of drummer and percussionist Marek Žilinec and actress and singer Dominika Morávková. Their mission is to provide people with a space for calming the mind, diving into oneself, and engaging in a spiritual practice that is authentic and profound. Marek brings experiences from his travels around the world, especially from India, as well as performances with leading world musicians in the genre such as Kevin James Carroll, Hanuman Project, or participating in the musical group SOUNDS OF ISHA, which accompanies spiritual master Sadhguru. This dream has come to life through the hands, voice, and heart of Dominika, who delivers the energy of the mantras absolutely and authentically. What is kirtan? Kirtan is essentially a collective mantra chanting. The word mantra translates from Sanskrit as "calming the mind." It leads us to greater peace and presence. Kirtan can thus be perceived as a dynamic form of meditation that calms the mind, opens the heart, dissolves the ego, and fosters feelings of love, joy, and inner peace. Kirtan has various forms, and the Mahadeva Project invites us to sing sacred words together, which the band leads and which everyone then repeats. However, it is also a deep yoga practice, so we ask for consideration towards other participants and musicians and their personal experiences. Except for the singing of mantras, we maintain a space of maximum silence and immersion in oneself. For this reason, please do not bring children who are not yet able to enjoy staying in a state of calm, silence, and introspection for an extended period. What to bring? We recommend a meditation cushion/blanket for sitting, or a yoga mat (the space has a wooden floor) and a bottle of water. We build on the principles of non-violence, reciprocity, and responsibility, which we weave into a living community. We believe that real change begins within but develops in the actions we create together.
