Hilde Domin, born Löwenstein, was born on July 27, 1909, in Cologne. She was one of the most important lyricists of the post-war period, but also made a name for herself as a literary scholar. With Hitler's rise to power, Hilde Domin and her husband began their exile, which took them through Italy, England, and Canada to Santo Domingo. After 22 years, they returned to Germany in 1954, where Domin began publishing her poems under the pseudonym "Domin," after "the name of her island." From 1961, she lived in Heidelberg, where she died on February 22, 2006.
Marion Tauschwitz studied English and German studies and worked as a high school teacher, freelance lecturer, and author before meeting Hilde Domin in Heidelberg in 2001. She accompanied her until her death in 2006. In 2009, she published a comprehensive biography of Hilde Domin, which was welcomed as a standard work by literary critics. Madeleine Schumacher is a German singer-songwriter. She accompanies her songs with the Celtic harp. Her artistic concept combines music, nature, and poetry under the title "Hidden Gardens". She emigrated as a small child from the idyllic Bavarian Alps with her family to the United States and grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, New York.
"Love Rushing," a historical reading of famous personalities from six centuries, with actress Anke Sonnentag. Manfred Klenk, born in Mannheim, has been publishing poems, essays, and short prose for many years. As an editor and author (among others), in 2024 he, together with four authors from the Literary Center Rhein-Neckar e. V., published the anthology "Heimat und Anderswo". This year, a joint poetry brochure "Autumn Crocus Poetry" was created with Madeleine Schumacher, published for this year's "Weinheimer Literaturfestival / Weinheim liest" and presented to the audience. On the occasion of an anniversary of one of her daughters, Gabriele Kirch set out to find the right poem for the occasion. She reviewed her collected works and noticed how many texts, thoughts, and poems revolve around children and childhood in her over 40-year activity as a lyricist. Thus, she wished to create a book that deals exclusively with children and the crucial phase of childhood for all of us. Gabriele Kirch was born in 1953 in Finsterwalde in Lower Lusatia. She spent the best years of her childhood and youth in the Palatinate. After various stations across Germany, she has found her home on the Baltic Sea near Kiel for the past 30 years. The great transformer in Manon Hopf's poems is language itself: that nothing remains together and in place; that everything is in flux and becoming – and that language, from sound, shapes bodies, animals, and relationships, moves, even recreates them anew. Here, in these poems, everything is in motion: the waters from the spring through the river to the sea, where the sirens sing of all that, "what one does not want to hear"; the abysses and night songs. Even death here is just a transformation: "you are already ash" – and disappearance, and surely sleep within the "moon madness" as "a question / of the waning / light".
Manon Hopf lives in Mannheim. Studied literature in Mainz, master's degree in Frankfurt am Main. Literary translation from French at LMU Munich. Since 2021 member of VdÜ, 2024 the poetry volume "hand, leg, undulations"; 2024 "here stands your person. Transformations" at Hochroth Heidelberg. On the occasion of an anniversary of one of her daughters, Gabriele Kirch set out to find the right poem for the occasion. She reviewed her works.
