LSD and the Search for God emerged in 2005 on the coast of Northern California – seemingly from another time and place – and captivated San Francisco with hypnotic concerts. These were based on swirling guitars, otherworldly drones, fuzz-soaked pop melodies, and dreamy vocal harmonies. Early performances and recordings led to comparisons with My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Yo La Tengo, Spacemen 3, and Sonic Youth. This quickly earned the band a reputation as a must-see act in the underground shoegaze and psychedelic scene. Their self-titled debut EP LSD and the Search for God (Mind Expansion Records, 2007; Don Giovanni, 2025) sold out before its official release, received rave reviews, and continues to appear on lists of the most important shoegaze releases. All five songs solidified the band's status as central figures in the shoegaze revival of the late 2000s. With growing anticipation surrounding their cult-favorite debut, the band released a second EP Heaven Is a Place (Space Age Recordings, 2016; Don Giovanni, 2025), which exceeded all expectations, expanded their sound, and sharpened their artistic vision.
