Loreena McKennitt The award-winning Canadian singer and songwriter Loreena McKennitt has just announced a European tour («The Mask and Mirror 30th Anniversary Tour») with 30 concerts across nine countries for spring 2027. On March 24, 2027, she will perform at The Hall Zürich and on March 25, 2027, at Théâtre de Beaulieu Lausanne. The «The Mask and Mirror 30th Anniversary Tour» begins on February 22 in Groningen, Netherlands, and ends on April 3 in Paris, France, with performances in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. The spring dates form the third leg of McKennitt's anniversary tour, celebrating her 1994 studio album The Mask and The Mirror – an album often described as a pivotal moment in her career and celebrated for its «intercultural fusion» weaving together Celtic, Spanish, and Moroccan influences. Upon its release, the LA Times described it as «music full of dark depths, spiritual longings, and ancient echoes». The album, which the artist considers «a historical and musical pilgrimage», has sold over two million copies worldwide. McKennitt says she has «followed the inspiration» and the album «explores questions that echo through the centuries – Who was God? What is religion, what is spirituality? What was revealed and what was hidden, and what was the mask and what was the mirror?» «We are incredibly excited to return to Europe for another chapter of The Mask and Mirror Anniversary Tour, following the first leg in Southern Europe in summer 2024, where we performed at many open-air festivals,» said McKennitt. «It has been fascinating to engage again with music inspired by questions that not only explore the history of the Celts but also the timeless themes of religion, spirituality, and moral dilemmas – which resonate anew today. We can’t wait to see everyone again and share the music with them.» The second leg of the «The Mask and Mirror Anniversary Tour» will take place this fall in Eastern Canada, starting on October 13, 2026, in Moncton, NB, and ending on November 2 in Montréal. The tour first launched in summer 2024 in Europe. Due to high demand for tickets and many sold-out shows, additional concerts had to be scheduled. The first part of each performance on the tour will feature «fan favorites», while the second part will include all songs in the order of the album. McKennitt will be accompanied by her musical collaborators Caroline Lavelle on cello, Brian Hughes on guitar, Hugh Marsh on violin, Dudley Phillips on bass, and Robert Brian on drums. McKennitt's versatile Celtic blend of pop, folk, and world music has sold over 14 million albums worldwide. Her albums have achieved gold, platinum, and multi-platinum status in 15 countries across four continents. She has been nominated twice for a GRAMMY® Award and has won two Juno Awards as well as a Billboard International Achievement Award.
