Description
How cool can music actually be? The answer is repeatedly given by Little Barrie, the British trio consisting of Barrie Cadogan, Lewis Wharton, and Tony Coote (formerly Malcolm Catto) — album after album, song after song. The new album "Gravity Freeze" (May 2026), released in May 2026 via the label Easy Eye Sound (Dan Auerbach), effortlessly joins the great albums like "Stand Your Ground" (2007), "Shadow" (2014), "Quatermass Seven" (2020), or "Electric War" (2025). It is a record full of enjoyment and especially groove, and this throughout. From the opener "More Bad Miles Of Road" to the closing title track "Gravity Freeze." The typical atmosphere of Little Barrie is immediately perceptible and always excites a broad audience: friends of guitar music in general, of rock'n'roll, jazz, funk, and psych are equally enchanted. This is how Little Barrie also explains: "We just pretty much do what we want to without tailoring our music to any specific genre." Cadogan's unique guitar sound is once again strong, but also shy, present, yet silkily fine. Wharton's exciting bass lines bring great joy and are everywhere without seeming intrusive. Together with Tony Coote, embodying grooviness, this forms the fantastic foundation of this music. It is immensely pleasing that this band is playing its only Swiss concert at the Palace. So, leave your coolness at home, there will be enough for everyone!
