Description
Literary walk from Gruben to Gstaad with Ariane von Graffenried
Moderation: Markus Iseli Berndeutsch meets High German, French meets English, and other languages mix in between: In Babylon Park, Ariane von Graffenried moves playfully across linguistic and geographical boundaries. Her texts lead from the high mountains into the Swiss plateau and further across Europe, connecting personal observations with social and political realities. Graffenried's texts are made to be spoken. Rhythm, sound, and language switching are as much a part of them as a keen eye on people and places. Here, poetic and everyday, social critique and humor, fantastical and factual elements come together. For Babylon Park, Ariane von Graffenried received the Bern Canton Literature Prize in 2017. Born in 1978, Ariane von Graffenried is a writer and a PhD in Theater Studies. She is a member of the author group Bern ist überall and performs with musician and sound artist Robert Aeberhard as the duo Fitzgerald & Rimini. She has received multiple awards for her literary work, including the Grand Literature Prize of the City and Canton of Bern in 2022. The reading is part of the Literary Autumn Gstaad Festival: www.literarischerherbst.ch
