Description
Márta grows up in socialist Budapest, at Lake Balaton, where she spends wonderful summers with her cousin Theresa. But without Theresa, it is lonely, and after finishing school, Márta flees her drinking father and travels to her in East Berlin. The friend takes her into the world of the artistic bohemia, in backhouse apartments and smoky pubs, to the reading of the young, regime-critical writer Konstantin.
Nikoletta Kiss, who grew up in Budapest and Berlin and now lives in Vienna, tells evocatively of an intense female friendship and a love triangle in the turmoil of the pre-reunification period – of old wounds and the experience that it is never too late for healing.
Rescheduled date for the reading of May 10, 2026, which had to be postponed due to illness.
