Hesitantly, the two approach each other, their relationship full of puzzles, affection, and resistance. Hendrik hopes to find in his other self what he lacks — support and confidence. But the more he clings to Popóm, the more he withdraws, and only when he confides in a colleague does he realize the price paid when one withdraws from life. In Popóment, Johanna Sebauer explores the classic doppelgänger motif with subtle humor against the backdrop of an increasingly confusing present. Johanna Sebauer, born in 1988, grew up in Burgenland. Her novel Nincshof was awarded the debut prize at the Harbour Front Literature Festival in 2023 and was shortlisted for the Hamburg Book of the Year 2023. Her short story Das Gurkerl received the 3sat prize and the audience award at the Bachmann Competition 2024.
