Description
Flurina Badel: Nebelflüchtige
Moderation: Noëmi Schöb Aita left Unterengadin after graduating from high school and found a new life in Vienna – in the 'capital on the Inn,' as Johannes affectionately calls it. Only after the unexpected death of her mother does she return to her hometown, which is no longer the home of her childhood: the old Engadine houses are sold one by one to the highest bidder, the luxury real estate market is booming, and Aita's brothers also want to profit. While Aita lets it happen sadly, her old school friend Luis, who has taken over the village shop, increasingly searches for resistance against the commercialization of nature and traditions. Nebelflüchtige is a polyphonic, poetic, and gripping novel about the clash of today's worlds. Flurina Badel, born in 1983, is a polyglot writer and artist. After training as a journalist, she completed her Master of Fine Arts in Basel and studied at the Institute for Language Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Her first poetry collection tinnitus tropic was awarded a Swiss Literature Prize in 2020, and her first novel Tschiera received the Bündner Literature Prize in 2025. The reading is part of the Literary Autumn Gstaad Festival: www.literarischerherbst.ch
