Originally dedicated to irises - more than 400 varieties bloom in spring and can be purchased - they have significantly expanded in recent years to become a must-visit destination for garden, flower, and sculpture lovers. **The architecture of Château de Vullierens as well as its magnificent gardens and sculpture park constitute one of Switzerland's most remarkable heritage sites with an unparalleled 180° view of the Alps, Mont Blanc, and Lake Geneva.** Château de Vullierens is considered a perfect example of early 18th-century architecture in Switzerland and was built on the foundations of a 13th-century fortress. The 100-hectare estate has remained in the same family for 700 years. Besides one of the most modern iris collections in Europe with over 400 different varieties and 200 daylilies, visitors can admire various constantly renewed spaces through a park of over 30 hectares. Between April and October, about 110,000 flowers create a beautiful mosaic of late tulips, hyacinths, a collection of peonies and rhododendrons, and an impressive rose garden. The gardens and themed walks offer additional pleasure, and the equestrian alley, lined with historic trees such as sequoias, oaks, and probably the oldest tulip tree in Switzerland, completes the floral offer. The sculpture park features over 90 large contemporary works by 27 Swiss and international artists. The nearly 7-hectare vineyard is undergoing biodynamic conversion, and the wines have obtained organic certification and numerous awards. The vines are planted with Arbane, Chasselas, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Petit Meslier, Pinot Noir, Gamaret, Garanoir, and Galotta. The six domain wines can be tasted for free on-site, and the historic cellars are open for visits. Regular oenotourism events are offered. Two cafes, a shop, and exhibitions are available to visitors. A path for children beautifully completes the offer. * Reservations are not necessary to visit the gardens, but tickets can be purchased online at a discounted price and will allow faster access during busy days. * The last entry is at 5 pm. * Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. * Picnics are prohibited in the park, but a designated area is available before entering the gardens. * Etienne Krähenbühl’s Bing Bang rings every day at 2:30 pm. * Wheelchair-accessible garden tours are possible. The paths are gravel, so assistance is recommended for pushing wheelchairs. * We provide 2 manual wheelchairs and 1 electric wheelchair.
