Description

When he is not giving concerts and winning small arts awards (Prix Pantheon, Stuttgarter Besen, and many more), he mainly does one thing: gets away. Among other things, he goes on bike tours, to monasteries, and to communist summer camps. Or just into the depths of his thoughts, which is often adventurous enough. Songs about detours and roundabouts in the world and in his own head have emerged. Full of lightness and wit, but also without fear of addressing the dark corners. This time, things that have been swept under the carpet for years are brought to light: the old PUR cassette. The elementary school report cards. The matter with the night bus stop. Fortunately, Schilgen safely leads over every abyss – carried by his skilled piano and guitar playing, voice, and his “alert mind, with heart and humor and sneaky punchlines” (Laudation for the “Tuttlinger Krähe”). And when all else fails, there are always the poems: small linguistic surprise bags, deeply silly, highly artistic. The recently published “Collected Works” are, if it may be briefly mentioned here, already something like a bestseller by poetry book standards. Any questions?
