Description

After The Soldier's Tale, The Lady of the Sea, and Cyrano, the Geneva-based Bastien Blanchard and Olivier Kessi from the Frei Körper Kompanie are tackling a classic among classics. True to their desire to combine theater and music, they offer us an unprecedented version set in our society today: L'École des femmes.
Agnès is a young girl raised in ignorance by her guardian, Arnolphe. Kept by two of the most eccentric servants, she knows nothing of life and is destined to marry the man who raised her. The social aquarium in which she evolves is unfortunately not as watertight as expected, and that is where the handsome Horace makes his appearance. From this dark starting point, Molière's genius operates and transforms this drama into a wonderful comedy.
Beyond the question of women's place in our society, this play, more relevant than ever, also reveals how one can exercise power over someone by keeping them in ignorance and fear.
