Description

In winter, our alpine animals have a difficult time. To stay healthy through the winter, many reduce their energy consumption and move very little. Only the tracks in the snow reveal that they are there. But which animal leaves which tracks? With the gamekeeper, you will go on a track search at the foot of the Wildhauser Schafberg and learn a lot about the strategies of our wild animals. Their endangerment by humans will also be a topic. The wildlife-friendly tour takes into account the animals' need for rest. If there is too little snow, the tour will be slightly adjusted and conducted with hiking boots.

Requirements for participation
Good on foot and basic knowledge of snowshoeing

For your information: This is not a snowshoe or ski tour. Snowshoes or touring skis are only intended as means of transport in the snow.

Catering
Please bring your own.

What to bring/Equipment
Weather-appropriate clothing, warm gloves, sun/snow protection, warm tea, food, binoculars, snowshoes or touring skis (can be rented in various sports shops) and ski poles (or hiking poles with large basket attachment).

Execution
If there is too little snow, we will go on the track search with hiking boots. In case of heavy snow or rain, the event must be canceled. In case of cancellation, information will be provided by Friday, February 12, 2027, at the latest by email.

Note
Please arrive equipped at the meeting point and do not rent your equipment only at the top at Gamplüt, as depending on the weather, you will hike up with snowshoes.

This event is free for participants due to the 50th anniversary of WWF SG.
If you do not show up without cancellation, we will charge you the participation fee of 10.- Fr.

General Information

The event takes place in the area around the Wildhauser Schafberg and offers insights into the behavior and tracks of wild animals in winter. The event is free and organized by WWF SG. If there is insufficient snow, the tour will be switched to hiking boots.
