"Huddie" William Ledbetter (1989–1949), better known as Leadbelly, spent half of his life in prisons. After his pardon, he came to New York in the mid-1930s. He wrote worldwide hits like "Midnight Special," "Cottonfields," "Good Night Irene," "Where Did You Sleep Tonight," "Black Betty," "The Gallows Pole," and others. He had a repertoire of over 500 songs: blues, spirituals, dance pieces, and folk ballads.
His style influenced folk and skiffle musicians such as Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, or Lonnie Donegan. Artists like Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Ram Jam, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Eric Clapton, or Rory Gallagher drew from Leadbelly's repertoire.
With boundless energy, the duo carries on the legacy of this iconic blues singer.
Timo Gross’s earthy guitar style is impressively intertwined with the unusual and exotic guitar sounds of Adax Dörsam. Timo Gross has long earned a reputation for being able to keep pace with international blues greats - not for nothing have several of his albums been nominated for the German Record Critics' Award and the German Blues Awards.
