For her Carte Blanche invitation during the 2025 season at bee‑flat Bern, Swiss accordionist and composer Lea Gasser presents the new ensemble project «Low Drift». The quartet combines four different artistic personalities, creating a sonically diverse, textured music that blends improvised ensemble art, jazz language, and contemporary sound approaches. «Low Drift» positions itself as a program beyond simple genre categories: with accordion, bass clarinet, cello, and E-bass, the musicians develop sound worlds and interactions that are equally structured and freely improvised. The ensemble aims for an equal musical exchange – four voices that merge, rhythmize, articulate, and explore resonance spaces. The music of the quartet spans from chamber music intimacy to textured improvisation and jazz-inspired interactions.
